Clarissa Tamara

An Indonesian violinist, Clarissa Tamara was recorded as the “world fastest violinist” at the age of 14. This achievement of playing approximately 18 notes per second leads her to have more opportunities in her career which also bring Clarissa to perform across Indonesia as well as internationally. She has performed in the United States, Japan, Singapore, as well as Malaysia. With the combination of her classical and popular genre background, Clarissa has collaborated with many musicians around the world in various age group, including famous musicians from Indonesia.

Clarissa has started her career in music since her early age. At the age of 9 years old, she had already released two albums that one of them also being rewarded by Indonesian Music Awards as the “best instrumental album” and the “best instrumental production”. Since then, she starts to get more performance opportunity, interviews from big media companies, appearance in various TV shows, government events and many more.

In 2014, along with her dad, Ferdinand Marsa, as a composer, arranger, and her manager, Clarissa opens her heart to be a part of a non-profit organization called ChildAid Asia. This organization had brought her to collaborate with talented children around the world, make music from their heart and raising money for the unfortunate children all around Asia. As a natural performer, Clarissa’s passion in her violin playing brings joyful and happiness to the audience’s heart.

Besides performing, Clarissa has been passionate and started to teach violin since she was 14 years old. She is educated in multiple different methods and approaches. This allows her to deliver the needs of every student’s learning style, age, and skill level. She believes “there is no perfect method for all students”. Therefore, she combines a couple of methods and resources based on each student needs.

As a young adult, Clarissa is currently pursuing a master’s degree in violin performance at the University of Georgia under Levon Ambartsumian with teaching assistant position. Clarissa graduated with Bachelor of Music in violin performance at the University of North Texas under Julia Bushkova. She was pursuing this degree with full scholarship through the UNT College of Music undergraduate string quartet program that brings her to become a member of the Frieden String Quartet for four years.
