A native of Atlanta, Georgia, Nick Kohn features an incredibly diverse
upbringing and education. At the age of 13, Nick moved from Atlanta to
live in Abu Dhabi, UAE where he was the principal viola of the UAE
Philharmonic Orchestra for four years. While in Abu Dhabi, Nick
performed for the Queen of England and played with the Jacksons. Nick
received a British Education at the British School Al Khubairat, the
top British private school in the Middle East. After this, Nick was
accepted to the Royal Academy of Music in London, England, where he
studied with the esteemed professor, Garfield Jackson, a founding
member of the Endellion String Quartet. Nick’s solo appearances
include a performance of Berlioz’s “Harold in Italy” with the
Southgate Symphony Orchestra and Hoffmeister’s “Viola Concerto in D
Major” with the Hornton Chamber Orchestra. Nick also formed and
conducted the London Students’ Orchestra, featuring a performance of
Rachmaninoff’s second piano concerto with pianist Antoine Préat and
Dvorak’s “New World” Symphony. Nick graduated in 2019 with Honors and
returned back to his home-town, hoping to share his experiences. Since
coming back to Georgia, Nick has been an in-demand teacher, working
with top level private schools. When Nick is not doing music, he is an
avid sports fan and loves the Atlanta Braves.
