Sunha Kim – theory and composition
Mr. Sunha Kim has music degrees (B.M., M.M., D.M.A.)in music composition from Yonsei University in Korea, the University of Houston and University of Texas in Austin. and has taught various music subjects (piano, composition, theory, history of music and choir )at a University in Korea for 23 years as a full time professor.
He is a classical music composer, and piano is his primary instrument. His music have been selected and premiered at number of international music festivals. Korean Government as well as musical theatre companies commissioned 4 musicals which have been premiered in U.S., Korea, China, Japan and Russia. His choral works have been viewed through Youtube over 10,000 times. Internationally renowned choir masters, Yun Hakwon and Park Shinhwa, have professionally recorded his choral music. He is also a church choir director for 30 years. He composes music for voice, instruments, computer, musical theatre, orchestra, and choir.
Teaching music students have always. been at the top priority of his professional music activities. Traditional harmony, keyboard harmony, sight- reading, ear training, forms in music, music analysis and K-Pop music history, are some of the courses he taught last 23 years in the university.
Students understand lessons faster when they hear him playing piano. Piano has been his primary instrument when he write music all his life, and by his experience, utilizing piano during music lessons has been one of the most effective way of getting students focused on subjects. It works well in classes with students are from variety of levels, different culture, different social, academic backgrounds and nationality.
